Real Ivy Photoshop Brush.jpg

This Ivy Brush perfect for easily painting lush forest and leafy backgrounds in just a few brush strokes. To ensure a unique and realistic look the brush is made from photographs of real ivy from my garden.

To obtain the same look as the preview:

  1. Start with blocking the area with a dark colour, dark brown and green work well for this step.

  2. Pick lighter but still dark green and loosely start painting leaves with the brush, cover most of the area.

  3. Pick a medium green tone, with a warmer hue (towards a yellow-green) make the brush smaller and paint the areas where more light would hit the ivy wall.

  4. With a even warmer and lighter green tone, paint only on top of the areas you added in step three, and use it sparingly with a smaller brush.

  5. Bonus: I used a scatter brush to add some dots over the whole piece to add some detail and give a sense of pollen floating in the spring air.
